DIY - Dog Toy Box

DIY Dog Toy Box

I wanted to share with y'all my first real craft project that I came up with on my own and actually turned out to be something I'm quite proud of. I hope some of you remember Elli-Mae my adorable little dachshund. If not here is a WHOLE post about her, and a picture!!

As you can see from the picture she's not exactly a large dog. Her little paws make me laugh almost daily! Because of this I needed to come up with a "toy box" that she could actually get into. Let me tell you if I don't corral the toys Josh will trip on them, or step on a squeaky one at the most inappropriate times!

 Now onto the DIY!!

Materials:
1 Box the size of your choosing
4 sheets of scrapbook paper (I bought ones that were 12x12in)
Mod Podge
Paint Brush
Pencil

Step One:
Lay the paper down and then traced the box onto it.
Use a paper slicer to have a straight line.
I did this on all sides before I began the mod podge process!

The blue was for the long sides and the pink for the short!

Step Two:
I applied a medium layer of mod podge (it's both a glue and a sealer) to one side at a time!
You want it thick enough that there are no patches but like glue if it's too thick it will run out the edge.

Step Three: (an optional step)
I cut some pink paper up to fit in my printer and printed up Elli's name to go on the front of the box.
Apply to the front with more mod podge, repeating the first steps of glue first then sealer last!
I applied this after all the sheets were applied!

Step Four:
Apply mod podge on top of everything to achieve a thick "coat" on top.
I did this a total of four times!

Step Five:
Allow to dry!
I dried mine over night!

The finished product!!

It's a truly easy process! I hope you enjoy it!!
