Welcome back to week three of the "growing your blog" series!! I hope that with the last two weeks you've seen a few changes made from your blog, if you have please please let me know!! I would love to share in that joy!
This weeks post is all about LINK PARTIES!! WOOOHOOO I feel like an emoji should be here instead I'll just put :D :D D :D
Link parties are linking your blog with another blog that HOSTS a link party!! All you will need is your blog URL! Don't know what that is, let me SHOW YOU :D
I know silly picture with LOTS of arrows. So let me give it to you step by step (also be advised I work with blogger/blogspot not wordpress)! I open and go to VIEW MY BLOG, and from there click on the POST TITLE of the post that I want to share. In this case my cleaning schedule printable. From there, I then highlight whatever is in the URL box, and that's the POST URL!
From there I go and visit link parties, The D.I.Y Dreamer has a link party list as does Keeping It Simple, so follow them, add them to your toolbar, so that you can go and visit other link parties.
This is what you'll end up seeing when you go to link parties. There is
also another one that will take you to another page but they both do
they same thing. So you'll input the URL of the post, think of a name for it, then put your email (but like it says it won't be seen by anyone but the blog owner)! Then you'll be put into this HUGE list of pictures with the name that will lead others to your blog!
Here is the great news about link parties, and the tricks, you must have good pictures (remember week one) so that when people see you link up they WANT TO CLICK! The other thing is read the rules of the person hosting the link party, if they say no giveaways, no links to your whole blog, etc follow them. The last thing you want to do is break the rules of someone who HOSTS the party! Link parties always result in PAGE VIEWS! I know page views sometimes aren't as exciting as comments or monetizing your blog, but it is traffic and it is part of the foundation of good comments! Truly if you do nothing else and if you only do it on your one day off and you only link to 5 parties this will get you PAGE VIEWS!!
Awesome advice!
ReplyDeleteMake sure you have an image that "pops" for your link up ;) drawing the eye.
Hope you don't mind me adding this extra tip!
Nicolette- I never mind tips. I try to make the "growing your blog" images really pop and should probably spend some more time on my recipe pictures, but sometimes I feel like the recipe speaks for itself. I will have to give this some thoughts.
DeleteThanks for visiting, again :D

Wow ~ I just came across your post on Sumo's Sweet Stuff linky party. This is my first week as a blogger and just a few days into linking to parties! What a great find...I'm backing up to Week 1 and look forward to your series!
ReplyDeleteSupermom- linking is about the easiest thing you can do to get followers (but also the most time consuming) I tend to have a LOT of time on my hands currently but worry about once I have a job or in the future when we have kids where I will find the time for it!
DeleteThanks for visiting.

Thanks for the tutorial. I just popped over from the link party and joined because of what I read. However, I should have drank my morning coffee first cause I filled in the "name" section with my actual name, not the post title. Hahahahah. Oh well!
ReplyDeleteElaina- It happens all the time that I'm like uhhhh which link to I just link or just sheer confusion because I haven't woken up completely :D
DeleteThanks for stopping by.

Thank you so much for links to even more link parties. I am new to blogging and trying my best to figure it all out and get more traffic to my blog. Can't wait to see your future posts.
ReplyDeleteThanks
Deanna- Link Parties honestly get you soooooo much traffic! I can't say enough about them. The rest of the series will go through other ways to get traffic and to keep it on your blog (another important thing to have).

Thanks so much for the tips. I've just started trying to do linky parties, and I have a hard time finding where I fit in (especially compared to my amazing craft goddess co-blogger!). The list of linky parties is so helpful!
ReplyDeleteCheers!

The Hot Toddies of Washington
Buttons- Thanks for following along! I'm hosting a link party on Sundays so feel free to add whatever. Sometimes the more basic and easy a craft or DIY project the better. I get overwhelmed when I see things that look like they belong in Pottery Barn because I know in my hands I would either ruin it or just it wouldn't look as good. Feel confident to link things from your blog that you're passionate about!

I love your blog design. Mine needs help.
ReplyDeleteDesignGeek- Thanks so much, I spent a lot of time designing mine. I'm thinking about designing blogs but I have to put some real thought and consideration into this idea!

I followed your link from artsy-fartsy mama. Thanks for the info about growing your blog, I haven't updated mine for a while as I thought I was talking to myself due to only having a few followers and most not leaving comments. I'm going to try your advice so thanks for that and I'm now following you .. I'll return to have a look around when I have more time.
ReplyDeleteLynn x
Lynn- I had spent quite a while thinking I was only talking to myself as well, but when I went and updated content to be more user friendly, and updated the looks and such. It takes work to make your blog reader friendly or to gain followers. Social media is your best friend.

I have a question.. I am new to blogging and I was just wondering if their is an easier way to adding all the links to your blog your posting? Also I cant figure out how to add a button to my new blog post each time. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks a million! I love your blog! Nicole from southerncharm
ReplyDeleteNicole- I'm trying to understand, what do you mean by links to your blog? Also what do you mean by add a button to a new blog post? I'm sorry I'm not understanding you.
