Welcome to my blog series "Growing Your Blog: Small Ways to go from 0 to 100!" I'm no professional, I'm a married woman who has a husband and dog and house to take care of, and I'm also moving so I'm busy. But because I'm unemployed I have had time to devote to my blog. I'm going to set this up be really easy a once a week process to take your blog from 0 followers a day to at least 100! They're so easy, so simple you won't need to worry about time to do them!
Let me start by saying again that I'm not a professional. I'm using a free background from The Cutest Blog on the Block! I didn't pay money for it, I will one day if I have enough followers and post enough that it makes sense. For now I wanted something that popped, and kinda spoke a little bit about me and all of that. I don't have 1,000 page views a day, I still jump up and down and do a happy dance for 100, because it makes me feel successful. Every time I get a comment I get giddy. I'm a baby blogger. I don't have years of experience and my husband is still proof reading for errors, so trust me when I say I'm no professional!
Let's get started, the easiest change to make up front is:
Let me illustrate what I mean, but understand, I used an example but because of poor blogging skills prior to, I still have about 6 more posts (just printables) that I have to take better pictures with.
Let me set this up for you, when I was originally selling on Etsy, you didn't want pictures of the whole printable, then people could just type up themselves (NOT GOOD). Plus once I switched over I had officially run out of ink, and being unemployed meant no extra money for that, so I needed to screenshot. Now I'm not saying saying screenshot, I'm saying take good pictures of what you want to share on your blog.
Look at this post, it's one of my printables, but if someone were to repin this post, look how small the picture is. If they click the picture they only get the top 5 things. That's not helpful.
Now same post, but different picture! Now when someone repins it or looks at the image they can see it for what it is!
Here is another example for all you cooks out there:
Here is a recipe, my banana oat muffins (which are delicious) but this has no picture. You can't tell what they look like as a finished product. No one will repin this because it has NO picture!!
Here are my preztels! Not only do I give you a picture of the finished product but I go out of my way to show you the process! You know what to look for!
Don't be scared! It's not hard and you don't need to go back and redo. I did for my pretzels, because I love the recipe and will share in link parties and on Pinterest and all that! So it was important to me to take pictures. My banana nut muffins are great but they weren't my favorite. Will I go back sometime and take pictures, probably, but I'm focused on small steps right now. In link parties I'm trying to draw people in, so I want yummy things not things I'm not the biggest fan of!
So long for this week. We'll see each other next Saturday for the next installment of Small Ways to go from 0 to 100! Please feel free to contact me anytime in the comments section with any comments or questions.
